The
marriage alliance between Rathore Siahji and the sister
of a local prince made the Rathores powerful and prosperous.
They found Mandore inadequate for themselves and moved
to a more formidable and secure place. Roa Jodha, the
chief of the Rathore clan founded the new city in 1459
AD and named it after himself as
Jodhpur. Jodhpur
is also known ad the '
Blue City'.

to complete. It has now been converted into a heritage
