Kanha
National Park is located in the Mandla district of Madhya
Pradesh. Occupying an area of over 1,940-sq-km, the
park is also one of the Tiger Reserves of India. What
will interest you on tours to Kanha is the topography
of the region. The valley is shaped like a horseshoe
with the River Surpan meandering through the plains
of the park.
You will come across the forests of Bamboo and Sal
and grasslands. On tours to Kanha, you will come across
Antelope, Porcupine, Gray Langurs, Mongoose, Hyena,
Indian Bison, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Nilgai, Tiger, Wild
Pig and many varieties of Deer including Barking Deer,
Chousingha, Spotted Deer and Swamp Deer. There are almost
400 swamp deer in the park. Kanha National Park is home
to almost 175 species of birds. Watch out for the colorful
chirping birds on tours to Kanha. You can enjoy watching
the wild animals on an Elephant Safari.
On tours to Kanha, you must also visit the Kanha Museum
located within the park. The museum showcases objects
and functions of the park. You will also get a chance
to learn about the tribal culture of Madhya Pradesh
from the museum.
The park is open from mid-February to June and mid-November
to mid-February. It is closed from July to November
due to the monsoons.

is 266 km away from Kanha National Park.
By Rail: The nearest railhead is at Jabalpur.
It is 169 km away from the Kanha National Park.
By Road: Kanha National Park is well connected
by bus service with Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Nagpur, Mukki
and Raipur.
